Laura Tolomei was previously a teacher at JTCESC. She became the board chair on her retirement in 2021. She came to teaching Special Education in 2014 after moving from the Northern Territory, first at Halls Head ESC before joining us at JTCESC. She still teaches art here one day a week.
Laura is passionate about making education, engaging, relevant, and tailored to student needs. She draws on her 40+ years of experience in education, teaching K-12, and administration and reporting at a school and system-wide level across the Northern Territory and Western Australia.
As the Transition Support Officer at JTCESC, Aaron has been dedicated to the board since 2023. With over 18 years of experience in the disability sector, he is deeply committed to empowering individuals with disabilities to feel connected and included in their communities. Beyond Aaron’s role at JTCESC, he is also proud to serve as Vice Chairman on the Peel Volunteer Resource Centre board and is a member of the City of Mandurah Access and Inclusion Advisory Board. His ultimate goal is to ensure that every student at JTCESC has the necessary support and connections to thrive and achieve their full potential. Aaron is dedicated to fostering a sense of belonging and providing students with the tools they need to succeed.
Shannon Wright joined the board in his role as a City of Mandurah councillor in 2024. He is currently the Principal at Greenfields Primary School and has previously worked with the school through their school review processes. He has an interest in assisting students with their transition from school into the workforce and looks forward to contributing to our wonderful school.
Sarah Cousins joined the school board in 2023 as a parent member with a son currently attending JTC ESC. She is also a member of the Halls Head College ESC school board. She enjoys being part of the local JTC ESC community, supporting the school where possible.
Chilambe Kaweme is an experienced Information Technology Consultant with a demonstrated history of working in the Disability & healthcare industry. He is currently the Director of Prospect Medical Imaging, a family-run medical imaging practice, and proprietor of Personalised Disability Supports and Respite (PDSR). At PDSR, he provides Disability Support services such as Life stage transition and planning for young adults living with a disability, Innovative community participation, respite, short-term accommodation, and more
Chilambe joined the board at JTCESC as he has the passion to see our young students’ successful transition to adult life and wants to contribute towards this journey.
Penny Madigan began working at JTCESC in early 2019 as an Education Assistant and joined our school Board in March of 2024. She has seen many changes in her time at JTCESC and looks forward to a future of continued improvement and promotion of our school, with a focus on nurturing our students as they transition into the wider community following their schooling. Penny is also fortunate to work part-time with a not-for-profit organisation as a Project Officer, planning and facilitating events throughout rural areas of WA, providing bereavement services to families. She hopes to bring to the School Board her educational expertise and passion for the overall well-being of our staff and our students.
Nancy Hartnett has been a member of our School Board twice now! She is an involved community member and has been a local for over 20 years. Nancy has 13 years of experience working for local disability organisations, providing community access and supported independent living options. She aims to contribute wherever she can to promote the wonderful work we do at JTCESC and loves watching the students learn and flourish as they leave school and enter the wider community.
Jenny Green commenced with the School Board in May 2024 and is keen to work in collaboration with other Board members to promote school excellence and support suitable student programs. Jenny is a Justice of the Peace and has a Bachelor of Applied Science degree and a Graduate Diploma in Psychology. As a former Councillor for the City of Mandurah, Jenny sat on several committees and community advisory groups as well as previously being a Board Member for Forrest Personnel – Disability Employment for 5 years.
